Hypertext, An overview of
The World Wide Web is held together by HYPERTEXT
links, and the only way to move from page to page, using the web, is
by clicking on these links. Links can come in many shapes and
forms (text and picture links) are dotted throughout a web document.
Knowledge Area
Following
on from the previous sections, you should now be aware of the use of a
history session list and how to use a variety of methods to recall your
these web pages. However, these list are still not a permanent
feature and for those web site you regularly visit, can mean you need to
re-enter them on a regular basis.
However,
for the web sites you regularly attend, you should store them more permanently.
This can be done by using a "favorite" list.
Skills Area
To
view favorites Click
on the "Favorites" button found in your browser menu bar. This
will expose a list to the left of your browser screen similar to your
HISTORY list.

Here you are given TWO option ADD and ORGANIZE.
Depending on which of these options you choose will either ADD
or ORGANIZE.

Using
Add..
Adding a web address
Once
you have clicked on ADD you will be presented with a box similar to the
one below.
 This
box has a number of options some of them you will need to select before
you finally add your web address to the list: Placing
a web address in a folder
If you intend to add several web sites to your favourites, you should
organize them into FOLDERS according to who might use it or
what type of web site it is. This area works similar to
"windows explorer". Simply click on the folder to open it
up and then click OK. Your web address will then be stored inside
the folder you have just opened.
Viewing offline If
you would like to view this page offline, then you should also place a
tick in the box which says "Make available offline", before you
click OK. Creating
a Folder To
create a folder to store your web addresses, simply click on the
NEW FOLDER button to the right. A box similar to the one below will
appear
 Now
click inside the white band and type your new folder name. Remember
to give it an appropriate name associated with the web address so you are
able to finds it again. Your new folder will be created and already OPEN
ready for you to add your new web address to.
Using
Organize ... After
time, your folders and web addresses will need to be maintained.
