Using and managing a list of favourite web addresses

   
Outcome:
You will examine a number of management features and discover a variety of  skills to enable you to manage your favorites list

Objectives:

  • Delete a "favorite"
  • Rename a "favorite"
  • Move a "favorite"

 

Knowledge Area

As you add more and more web addresses to your "favorites" list you will notice that you are unable to quickly find a listed web address because there as so many listed.  Therefore, what you need to do on a regular basis is to organise your web addresses into a more manageable way.

Skills Area

 Using Organize ...


From the TWO options ADD and ORGANIZE, click on ORGANIZE. If you are unsure how to do this, refer to the previous section

Once you have click on the ORGANIZE button option you will be given a box similar to the one below:

Final Assessment

So choose:

If you fail you can return for more tuition; if you pass you can feel confident that you are saving your company money!

 

 


Using the Organise options

Create Folder

You may decide to categorise your web addresses or place addresses which you use in a folder.  To create a folder, click on the CREATE FOLDER button.  Once you have done this a box similar to the one below will appear.

Rename

When you add a web address to your favorites list, it automatically gives it a name.  However, sometimes the name doesn't quite describe the web page and it might be difficult to work-out what the page was about.  Therefore you need to rename the file.  to do this 

  • Click on the file or folder you wish to rename

  • The file or folder name will highlight. Simply type your new name and this new name will overwrite the old name. 

  • Now click anywhere inside the organise box to confirm your changes

Move Folder

If you have a number of web addresses in your favorites and would like to move them to folders, to this:

Click on the web address you would like to move, and then click on the MOVE TO FOLDER ... button.  A screen similar to the one on the left appears.

Now click on the folder you would like to move your web address to and then click on your OK button.

The file will then move to this folder.

Delete

As the web changes so very quickly many of the addresses in your favorites may no longer exist and you will need to delete them.  To delete a web address:

  • Click on the web address or folder you would like to delete and then click on the delete button.

  • A Message appears to confirm your instructions.  Double check, if you still want to go ahead, click OK.  The file will delete from your system.
